Mobile Work Management System (MWMS)
The City of Markham retained Irwin Consulting Services Inc. to implement its ABOUTIME software to capture Waterworks inspection activities. The solution provided the City with Chronological Indexing of Data built upon a generic Framework alongside Custom Activity Class Modules specific to the inspection activities required of Waterworks personnel. The system leverages the ABOUTIME Web Server and Mobile Devices and Interfaces with existing enterprise applications including Hansen IMS, AMANDA, Oracle and SQL Server.
The system enabled the City to improve internal and external process efficiency for enforcing water quality standards within the Waterworks department. It also reduced the actual effort required to complete service requests along with the turn-around time required to process service requests. In addition, Waterworks personnel were able to produce more accurate information in Hansen by avoiding manually re-entering information collected in the field.
Other system benefits included the ability to quantify the actual time required to process service requests and work orders and reducing the potential risk exposure to the City of Markham arising from litigation by increasing the confidence level in Waterworks data. Overall ABOUTIME was able to streamline the City’s processes and improve quality control thereby improving overall customer service.
